Bruno Wang is a passionate patron of the arts. He is currently Patron at The Royal College of Music, one of many cultural institutions that have benefitted from Bruno Wang’s patronage including The Serpentine Gallery, The Louvre, Hofesh Shechter Company, British Musuem, the Wallace Collection, Royal College of Music and the LGBTQ+ BFI Film Festival and The Old & New Vic Theatres. Bruno is also a Trustee of Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, a Principal Patron of Opera Rare.
A collector of ancient and contemporary Asian art, during his tenure as a Patron of the British Museum, Bruno Wang gave generous support for the new display and permanent housing of the Admonitions of the Instructress to the Court Ladies scroll, as well as supporting the purchase of a calligraphy work by Fu Shen.
Bruno Wang’s commitment as a patron and benefactor of the arts is also engendered within Bruno Wang Productions, which has supported socially important theatre productions that have won 29 Olivier Awards.
The Pure Land Foundation is a registered UK charity that has a rich legacy of achievements since its inception in 2015. Amongst the many achievements of The Pure Land Foundation is the support of the creation of the Prince Healing Centre at Dumfries House, which allowed for many patients across the UK to access alternative medical treatments.
In 2024 The Pure Land Foundation evolved to engender Bruno Wang’s belief that mental health is one of the biggest crises that the world faces today. Bruno Wang believes that a lot of modern crisis and suffering originates from unresolved anger, pain and resentment, and that one’s inner universe is reflected in one’s outer reality.
The Pure Land Foundation is today an advocacy organisation predicated on the belief that whilst one cannot control the world, one can control how to respond to it. The Foundation provides advocacy and learning opportunities focused on practices derived from Buddhism to support spiritual and mental wellness.
Bruno Wang Productions has been a driving force behind inspirational, imaginative, and critically acclaimed productions since being founded by Bruno Wang in 2015. The company has produced and underwritten diverse theatre and film projects exploring crucial themes such as social and criminal justice, LGBTQ+ history, anti-Semitism, war, cyberbullying, consensual relations and healing.
This commitment to has led to significant achievements, including 109 Olivier Award nominations and 29 Olivier Award wins for projects supported by Bruno Wang Productions. Typical among them was bringing the story of the Scottsboro Boys to the UK which shed light on racial injustice.
Today Bruno Wang Productions remains dedicated to fostering a more equal and inclusive environment in the performing arts and continues to support film and theatre production across three pillars of activity: theatre, film, and social impact entertainment.
